Lumerax 80 Tablet is used for the treatment of malaria in both children and adults. It contains two medicines both of which belong to a group of medicines called antimalarials. However, it is not used to prevent malaria or to treat severe/complicated malaria (when the brain, lungs, or kidneys are affected).
Lumerax 80 Tablet works by killing the malaria-causing parasites thereby preventing further spread of the infection. It should be taken with food as this will help your body better absorb the medicine. Take it in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Do not take more than the recommended dose, as this may have harmful effects on your body. Complete the full course of treatment to make sure the infection is treated completely.
Headache, loss of appetite, weakness, joint pain, or muscle pain are some of the common side effects associated with this medicine. You may also feel dizzy after taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if these persist or worsen.
Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor about all the medicines that you may be taking for any other health conditions. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medicine unless prescribed by the doctor, as it may be harmful effects on the developing baby.

However, it should not be used to prevent malaria and should be taken only when prescribed by a doctor. This medicine makes you feel better within a few days of treatment. But, if you have fever, chills, muscle pain, or headache soon after you finish your treatment, this could be a sign that you still are infected with malaria. Consult your doctor immediately if you notice any such symptoms.
Refrain from taking any other medicines or antacids along with this medicine (unless advised by the doctor) as they may affect the absorption of this medicine. Do not use this medicine for treating any other condition without consulting your doctor.
